I wonder what happened to that theory where there was crustal disturbance on the other side of the globe from a major impacting Meteor/asteroid. Given the parameters associated with Roche's limit, your average comet would be torn apart by gravitational stresses long before it reached near earth where portions of the fragmented comet, spread out like a shotgun blast would strike the earth and consist of huge and massive blocks of ice mixed with smaller hunks of iron and stone, etc. So, with the earth's gravitational tug on this astral body comes dislocation of the natural flow of the molten core which, with an intact orbit and axis, had steadied into standard patterns of flow, probably roatating with the earth in sedate, comfortable manner. The near miss of 10,000 miles by 95% of this comet oblated the liquid core and fractured the crispy crust. Pulling the heavier element to the north pole by its plar approach, the near miss came in at an angle and speed where the surface of the roating earth was timed so the approaching comet and one point were perpendicular for a long time, pulling the concentrated heavier elements on the surface like an erupting zit on a prom queen's nose on her night of regal glory. The earth, the moon and the astral visitor interacted gravitationaly, magnetically so that the earth and moon got dowsed with minus 360 degree "snow" and a shotgun blast of stoney iron meteors. The oceans rasied up and ashed over this hot, busted landscape. Imagine the steam clouds and the ultra frozen ice from way out beyond the solar system's fartherest planets. Well, when the astral visitor had made a few passes, each time dumping a little more ice and shotgun blast of stoney rocks to the moon and earth, it finally escaped earth orbit. When things settled we had stirred up seas, upthrusted, jagged, high mountains, polar ice caps, tilted earth and its resulted weather engine with a more homogenous presence of Carbon 14 than before when there was very little verticle movement of the air so the Ozone stays aloft where it is manufacture by sunlight acting on the upper reaches of the atmosphere.

That's why we got flash frozen mammoths that meat experts have testified could not be frozen by any processes known to man at the time, to include immersion in super cold liquid gases. Had something to do with the way ice crystals formed in the meat and the way it looked under a microscope.
